LOVE LIST

1. Radhanath Swami
                                                                       RadhanathSwamiphotos.com

I finally had the opportunity to meet Radhanath Swami at a Bhakti event a few weeks back. The stars finally aligned. David Newman first mentioned his book The Journey Home early this past summer. Radhanath Swami's book and name kept coming to me through our mutual friends and acquaintances on the path of Bhav. Well I finally got a copy of the book and EVERYONE must read this. It is an amazing tale of his Journey! It is what I look forward to reading every night. You can purchase his book on the link above.

2. SNOW
There was certainly a time in life when I did not look forward to the winters of CNY. I really embrace all the seasons and VARIETY of CNY weather. I am particularly looking forward to winter and frozen ground because I live with three dogs and the MUD OH THE MUD! I have been cleaning like a crazy vacuuming and mopping the floors two sometimes three times a day. Bring it on Please!

3. Parsley
I have a parsley tooth! I admit I eat at least one bunch of parsley a day. Its my thing what can I say. I LOVE IT! It is great to travel with I always pack a few bunches on my carry on to eat in the airport and while traveling. That way I know I am getting my leafy green vegetables. It is filled with chlorophyll and a great blood purifier and a natural diuretic. Parsley is my super food of choice.
Parsley Monsters
Our Flight was cancelled to Madrid . I can't remember his name but he was getting married in Italy and was going to be in trouble if he didn't get there. The bride was waiting in Italy! Make friends share your green.

Chapel House Retreat

Solitude

Going to check in here for a nice long weekend of Solitude and Silence. There is a silent retreat house close to Syracuse called Chapel House.  The minimum is a two night stay but the perfect Yogic getaway or get out of your own way and into the heart.  You don't need to run off into a cave just check into the cave of your heart . Time alone in silence and unplugged is of great importance on the journey.

Reverence

I humbly bow before the lotus feet of the all the great Munis,Sages, Maha Yogis and all of those who have paved the way for us Yogis in this age. In deepest reverence and gratitude to my supreme teacher ,Guru and light Sri Dharma Mittra.

Definition of REVERENCE

1
: honor or respect felt or shown : deferenceespecially :profound adoring awed respect
2
: a gesture of respect (as a bow)
3
: the state of being revered
4
: one held in reverence —used as a title for a clergyman
Definition from Webster Dictionary

You can say we live in a time or society that deeply lacks reverence or respect for all life. Look where it has got us and I don't have the desire to see where it takes us if we keep going with this level of consciousness. I am not sure where it starts but perhaps at home with our parents and elders. Look at the way seniors are treated in our culture tucked nicely away and often forgotten about. How do you treat your elders? When you are driving behind Grandma or Grandpa do you hold them in your heart and pray or are you beeping and holding agitation in the heart instead? Remember in Yoga patience and perseverance is the way.

We also need to look at our relationship to the Earth and all living beings. We have lost our reverence and respect surely here. We take ,take, take from the Earth with out asking but a whole lot of expecting. Some of us even take it upon ourselves to take the lives of others when we sit down to eat. This is outdated as Sri Dharma would say "Update." We don't need to kill to eat anymore we have such an abundance of fruits, vegetables, grains, and grocery stores open 24 hrs a day. There would truly be enough for others to eat and no one would go hungry if we all became Vegetarians. So perhaps just take what we need and leave the rest for others and others lively hood alone.

Respect starts with the self. Respect your self have deep reverence for the supreme within you. Then begin to take that respect beyond to everyone and everything.

My LOVE List

Happy Monday ! I thought I would start this week out with a Love List inspired by the one and only Kris Carr. You can visit her crazysexylife.com

1. Farm Sanctuary Watkins Glenn ,NY
A tradition of mine for many years is adopting Turkeys for my Veg friends and family. Yes, I am so blessed to have five family memebers who are Veg or Vegan. The Farm Sanctuary is a lovely place and a nice day trip to make from Syracuse. The website is great and you can adopt a Turkey like Harley there FarmSanctuary.org The CNY YOGA CENTER will be adopting a flock this session in honor of the sangha "community" here .
I LOVE TURKEYS!

2. Alone Time
There is nothing like a little alone time. A time to be quiet, go for a walk in the woods.Or sit in my meditation room with a yogic book in the papasan chair. I have even been known to go a movie by myself or out to dinner. Sometimes it is just nice to sit with yourself outside of Meditation and be anyonmous in the world. It re charges me and is part of my Sadhana that is just as important as any of the other parts.
3. Springs and Collecting Spring Water
I have been on the search for local springs for well over a year now. With to much plastic in the oceans and enviroment not to mention all the ill health effects of drinking from plastics I believe it's the way to go.  I know what the water does to my skin that comes out of the faucets and it is surely chlorinated. I have found a spring that is quite nice locally and go fill up there as often as I can manage. You know you have a good one when there are always people waiting to fill up there jugs. Some of the people I have met there have been collecting water there for over 20 years! WOW! It is best to collect in glass jugs if you can get them from your local brewery or home brew store. There are also lots of great you tube videos on collecting spring water. Enjoy!
4.Dragon Bowls
Must say they have been a staple of my diet lately. I am also blessed to have my great friend Kate make them for me every week when we have an artist date in her art cave. Check out her blog!http://katesartandsoul.blogspot.com/

Go here for the great recipe and site
5. Fall
We are really lucky to have all four seasons here in CNY the weather is so unpredictable that it becomes predictable! The fall here for sure is the best! The colors ,suprisingly warm days  and fall harvest of foods like kale, cauliflower, chards, and squashes makes it special here. Try to love all seasons be a Yogi remain the same wether hot ,cold, snow, rain or sun everything has a purpose and is perfect.
