You can say we live in a time or society that deeply lacks reverence or respect for all life. Look where it has got us and I don't have the desire to see where it takes us if we keep going with this level of consciousness. I am not sure where it starts but perhaps at home with our parents and elders. Look at the way seniors are treated in our culture tucked nicely away and often forgotten about. How do you treat your elders? When you are driving behind Grandma or Grandpa do you hold them in your heart and pray or are you beeping and holding agitation in the heart instead? Remember in Yoga patience and perseverance is the way.

We also need to look at our relationship to the Earth and all living beings. We have lost our reverence and respect surely here. We take ,take, take from the Earth with out asking but a whole lot of expecting. Some of us even take it upon ourselves to take the lives of others when we sit down to eat. This is outdated as Sri Dharma would say "Update." We don't need to kill to eat anymore we have such an abundance of fruits, vegetables, grains, and grocery stores open 24 hrs a day. There would truly be enough for others to eat and no one would go hungry if we all became Vegetarians. So perhaps just take what we need and leave the rest for others and others lively hood alone.

Respect starts with the self. Respect your self have deep reverence for the supreme within you. Then begin to take that respect beyond to everyone and everything.
